Check If View Exists Extension
¶ What the extension does
This extension checks if a view with a configured name exists, and sets the variable ${{RevitViewExists}} accordingly.
¶ What Problem It Solves
Using this extension in combination with the Conditional task will enable you to execute parts of your workflow based upon if a view exists or not.
¶ How to use Check If View Exists
- Open Assistant
- Navigate to the Assistant Revit Extension task.
- Search for the "Check If View Exists" extension.
- Enter the name of the view in the provided field.
- Use the ${{RevitViewExists}} in another task.
¶ Example with Conditional task
Configure what view to check
Use ${{RevitViewExists}} variable in Conditional task
The view with name 'L2' will be set as active view only if it exists. If the view does not exist, no further action will take place.
¶ Result
The result can be:
- Success: View 'Your view name here' does not exist, ${{RevitViewExists}} set to false
- Success: View 'Your view name here' exist, ${{RevitViewExists}} set to true
- Failed: Error: No view name was provided to check (Solution: Provide the extension with the name of a view)
- Failed: Revit has no active model open (Solution: Open a Revit model and try again)
